Aspect® Cladding
Aspect offers a modern take on horizontal shiplap cladding, emphasising clean lines and architectural simplicity. These large-format fibre cement boards feature a smooth surface with bold, square-shaped horizontal grooves.
The design is ideal for homes with flat or skillion roof lines, creating dark shadow lines that extend down the external walls in a rhythmic pattern, enhancing the sense of order and symmetry. Aspect complements a contemporary colour palette of black, white, and grey.
Cemintel® Aspect is a crisp, precise, and durable fibre cement cladding that focuses on shape and colour rather than material texture. Unlike the rustic timber cladding traditionally associated with ship-lap joints, Aspect can also evoke the look of rendered masonry, where grooves are created by raking away some of the mortar lines.

Product Information
The term “ship-lap” refers to a style of joint used on the long edges of cladding boards, similar to tongue and groove joints. In this system, the boards feature a long top lip on the back edge and a short bottom lip on the front edge. When joined, the unequal lips create a horizontal groove and a weathertight joint, as water must flow uphill to penetrate behind the cladding.
Aspect cladding boards are larger than traditional shiplap or weatherboard widths. Each board measures 260mm in height, with shiplap grooves that are 16mm wide.
This style of cladding is ideal for contemporary suburban new home construction. Its minimalist aesthetic complements other modern cladding styles, such as monolithic rendered walls, raw concrete-look cladding, and geometric express joint panels.
Aspect also fits well with lightweight modern coastal designs, featuring large, protective overhanging roofs, expansive bay windows, and generous indoor-outdoor living areas.

Installation
Aspect cladding boards measure 300 x 4200 x 12mm, with a shiplap joint creating a 24mm overlap, resulting in an effective coverage width of 276mm per board. Each board covers 1.16 square metres of wall.
Aspect cladding is versatile for both internal and external walls. The distinctive horizontal grooves add visual interest to facades and internal feature walls, while the simplicity of the shiplap design makes it suitable for gable ends and infill panels.
Compared to traditional shiplap panels, Aspect boards are easier for installers to handle. They are lighter, simpler to align, and generally result in less board waste.
The boards can span up to 600mm and can be gun-nailed or hand-nailed directly to timber frames or screwed onto light gauge steel frames. Aluminium internal and external corner accessories enhance installation ease and improve the quality of the wall finish.
Made from Cemintel fibre cement, Aspect cladding is suitable for applications requiring non-combustible materials, as per the National Construction Code Volume One, Clause C2D1 Deemed-to-Satisfy Provisions (6)(d). It is also appropriate for Bushfire Attack Levels up to BAL-29 when installed according to Australian Standard AS3959.
