Headland® Weatherboards
Cemintel® Headland offers a more traditional fibre cement weatherboard style, perfect for classic Australian homes like Queenslanders and suburban cottages. In the days when timber weatherboards were popular, they often featured decorative profiles with chamfers, rebates, and beads for added character.
Headland weatherboards are 10mm thick and include a horizontal linear rebate (groove). This groove not only adds a traditional ornamental detail but also aligns with the bottom of the board above, deepening the shadow line and creating the illusion of a thicker weatherboard.
These durable fibre cement weatherboards are ideal for external cladding in older homes with sash windows and decorative timber mouldings, blending seamlessly with the heritage aesthetic while offering long-lasting performance.

Product Information
Rebated fibre cement weatherboards are as quintessentially Australian as corrugated iron roofs. Timber weatherboard homes became popular in Australia from the 1850s, thanks to the availability of timber and efficient sawmills. By the 1950s, weatherboard homes were among the most common style built across the country.
Today, fibre cement weatherboards are favoured for their durability and low maintenance requirements. Modern weatherboard homes with simple gable or hip roofs are cost-effective and straightforward to construct. In two-storey designs, using lightweight fibre cement weatherboards on the upper storey can significantly reduce structural costs compared to brick cladding.
Heritage homes such as Queenslanders, workers' cottages, and certain California Bungalows often feature intricate decorative details. For renovation projects or home extensions on these types of properties, Headland weatherboards are an excellent choice, providing a blend of traditional charm and modern durability.

Installation
Headland weatherboards feature a ship-lap joint that ensures they align perfectly and install quickly without the need for precise measurements or alignment.
You can gun-nail or hand-nail the boards to timber stud frames or screw them to light gauge steel frames, with stud spacing of up to 600mm depending on wind zone requirements. Alternatively, fixing via a cavity wall system is possible using vertical timber or fibre cement battens.
Cemintel Headland weatherboards meet the standards for use in applications requiring non-combustible materials, as specified in the National Construction Code Volume One, Clause C2D1 Deemed-to-Satisfy Provisions (6)(d).
They are suitable for Bushfire Attack Levels (BAL) up to BAL-29 when installed according to Australian Standards AS3959. In high-risk bushfire zones, external walls can be upgraded to BAL-FZ when Headland weatherboards are part of a fire-rated plasterboard wall system.
Looking for a more contemporary weatherboard without a rebate? The Street Style range offers two flat-faced options:
Balmoral Weatherboards: Similar in size to Headland but 16mm thick, providing deeper, more modern shadow lines.
Scarborough Weatherboards: At 12mm thick with a medium shadow line, these 175mm wide boards have a 25mm overlap, offering a slightly more modern look compared to Headland weatherboards.
